Once a quarter, Foundation Fitness of Annapolis has the pleasure of hosting the Wounded Warrior Project’s Physical Health & Wellness expo.
Over the course of this three-day event, which serves as a prerequisite for a 90-day coaching program, a group of 20 veterans are given different presentations on fitness, nutrition and mindfulness.
“It’s an honor to host the Wounded Warrior Project at Foundation Fitness. As a Marine veteran I can attest to the importance of continual knowledge in health and wellness. Wounded Warrior Project helps establish that foundation of healthy lifestyle that veterans can build on,” said General Manager James Zimmerer.
Using TRX suspension trainers, foam rollers and resistance bands, veterans are given a library of exercises to help create their own workout routine.
Nutrition lessons include a grocery store tour, cooking classes and assistance in reading and understanding nutrition labels. As well, participants took home portion control containers to help create balanced, healthy meals.
Mindfulness is taught through the practice of restorative yoga with Foundation Fitness Group Exercise Director Kylee Hayes.
“Foundation Fitness is the perfect host to facilitate the expo. The staff is welcoming, incredibly helpful and goes above and beyond to be sure the event runs smoothly and seamlessly. Additionally, their appreciation for the military community is evident and the Wounded Warrior Project is grateful for their hospitality and support,” said Erin Anderson, a physical health & wellness specialist.
